Wow! You guys sure impressed me last Thursday at the Opening Social!
There were 95 of the incoming honors freshmen there! That's incredible you guys! I didn't get to meet as many of you as I would have liked, and remembering all of your names is going to take a while, but just be patient with me, I promise I'll get there.
Pizza was fun, and even though the line was long, everyone got to eat, and received their new honors t-shirts.
After pizza, many of you stuck around to see Off the Cuff. Although we didn't quite fill the auditorium, when I spoke to them after-wards, the members of Off the Cuff said that, "it sounded like there were five-hundred of you guys! You were a great audience!" And the Honors Council made them all honorary Honors club members.
I am so excited to really get to know you guys this year, and the Mountain Center Retreat/Charge will be a great time to do that! You can still sign up. Just shoot me an email at honors@suu.edu
Also, don't forget that tomorrow is T-Shirt Tuesday! Wear your Honors T-Shirt and stop by the honors office, or if you see one of the council members, talk to us, and we might have a treat for you :)

Excitement in the making
Last night we met as an Honors Council again. By the way, everyone is invited to attend our meetings. They only last an hour, move at a good speed, and you are welcome to give input or just listen to what's going on.
Tomorrow is our Opening Social. Hopefully, everyone can be there (Zion room at 5 for Freshman, Great Basin room at 6 dinner will be served for everyone, and doors to the Sterling Church Auditorium open at 7:30 for Off the Cuff; free with an honors t-shirt and VIP seating as well.)
We also talked about the Freshman retreat (or freshman charge, since honors students never retreat!) We're going to have a lot going on. Food, games, maybe even a movie...It's going to be so awesome! And you can sign up starting today. The retreat/charge will be October 8-9. Dinner and breakfast will be served. Email me (Brenna) at honors@suu.edu with your name and phone number if you would like to come.
I can't wait to see y'all tomorrow at the social!

Starting Fresh
Monday was the first day of school. Obviously. I don't know about the rest of you, but for me it went really well, and I'm looking forward to everything I get to do this semester (which is more than I can say for my roommate who came home that night with more homework than I even want to think about.)
Tuesday night was the first Honors Council meeting.
The meeting went so well! I am so lucky to be working with such great people who are going to make this such a great year for everybody! We talked about the opening social (September 9th on the calendar), our first MAD lecture (not on the calendar yet, but keep checking, probably September 21st) which will feature Dr. Kyle Bishop speaking about Zombies! Violet and Ashley are excited to be working with the Freshmen, and Ashley was appointed the "best friend." Feel free to contact us, if you need anything. We're here to serve. Club fair tonight! Maybe we'll see you there...

Losing my voice
Friday night was the first club fair of the year. There was a huge turnout, and the Honors table was looking good with our new t-shirt design printed on a poster.
There were so many people who stopped by! I actually lost my voice from talking so loudly and so much. Honors is going to be so popular this year, and school hasn't even started yet...
Tomorrow is the first day of school so I just want to wish everyone good luck! Check back here on Tuesday :)

Freshie Move-in Day
Yesterday was the day for new freshmen to move in to their new home in Juniper. Ashley and I had a lot of fun meeting y'all! Robert (also known as Bobby G) from C200 tagged along with us for a while. Girls, you should get to know this ladies man (he plays guitar if that influences you at all). Sami on C300 let us hang out in her room for a while, and she is so sweet! In fact, everyone we met was very nice, and had a smile on their face. If the twenty or so people we met are a good representation of the rest of the residents on Honors Hall this year, it is going to be the greatest place this year (as always of course.)

New school year, new website, new beginnings
Hi!
It's Brenna. Your President for this new year.
I am so excited to begin this school year. I love new beginnings and the chance at a fresh start. It's a chance to work on new goals, and have new adventures.
I wanted to give y'all a website that you could look to for information that is available whenever you need it, rather than waiting around for long emails that might not have exactly what you need. On this new website is a google calendar that will remain up-to-date on everything--not just Honors activities, but all campus activities. My goal is that it be the most extensive calendar available. Even more extensive than the calendar on SUU's website. Another goal is that I can be a resource to you. Whether you're in the Honors program or not, freshman or senior, I am here to answer your questions and do whatever I can for you.
This school year I encourage you to make your own goals for yourself, and not just once at the beginning of the semester, or January 1st as is traditional, but all the time! You don't have to wait until the beginning of something to make new goals.
Remember to check back here often, and if you need to contact me, please use my personal email address: dancingqueen15@gmail.com. (Confession: I'm sort of addicted to checking my email, so I'll get back to you really quick!)
Have a great year everybody!
